A Ball for Daisy

By Chris Raschka
Published by Schwartz and Wade 2012
This wordless picture book tells the story about the heartbreak of losing a special toy when Daisy’s favorite ball is destroyed by another dog. She goes with her owner to the dog park and sees the other dog there– with a new ball! She is overjoyed to be able to take the ball home.
This book is great for young children who have ever had a special toy break or get lost.

LIttle Dog and Duncan

By Kristine O’Connell George

Illustrated by June Otani

Published by Clarion Books, 1999

This sweet book of poems is a companion book to the Little Dog series of books, and continues the adventures of Little Dog when a big dog comes to visit. This book is great to compare the two animals, and see how they are alike and different, but also accept that they are different but can still be friends.

Great for small children, (pre-k) who are learning the tenets of friendship and acceptance of others that are different from them.
