Buffalo Wings

By Aaron Reynolds
Illustrated BY Paulette Bogan
Published by Bloomsbury USA Children’s Books, 2007
It’s the day of the big football game at the farm, and everyone is getting their game day dishes together. Rooster wants to make buffalo wings, and without looking at the recipe too closely, decides to drive off on a search for buffalo. When he finds them, he sees that there is a problem: NONE of the buffalo have wings! What is he to do? He re-reads the recipe, and realizes something important: buffalo wings require chicken wings! There’s no way he’s going to sacrifice himself at the behest of the recipe, but still wants something zesty for the big game. By the time he returns home with a new recipe for jalapeƱo hush puppies, the game is over. Instead, the farm animals play their own game of football and enjoy their lovely snacks.

Great book for all ages, particularly young children looking for a thrill! Also great for looking at perspective. How do the carrots feel about getting eaten?
