Leonardo the Terrible Monster

By Mo Willems
Published by Hyperion Books, 2005

Leonardo is a terrible monster– he doesn’t scare anyone. He tries very hard to be scary, but just doesn’t succeed. Leonardo does some research and tracks down the most shy, diminutive little boy he can find, sneaks up on him, and tries to scare him. The boy cries, and Leonardo feels like he has FINALLY won… until he figures out why he’s really crying. Leonardo and Sam become friends– but that doesn’t stop Leo from still trying to scare the “tuna salad” out of him every once in awhile.
A great book about friendship and determining what is important.
