Amos and Boris

By William Steig
Published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 1971
Amos is a mouse, and one day, whiles sailing in his boat, the Rodent, Amos falls overboard and is rescued by Boris, a whale. Amos gets a chance to return the favor when Boris is swept ashore by a tsunami, sure to perish without help. Amos enlists the help of two large elephants who successfully push Boris back out to sea.
A great book to pair with the fable about the Mouse and the Lion, and compare and contrast the two very similar tales.
