A Chair for My Mother

By Vera B. Williams
Published by Greenwillow Books, 1982
A girl and her mother and grandmother have slowly been saving their coins. They are going to by a nice big chair for her mother, who works hard at the diner, and wants somewhere to put her feet up after a long day. Finally, the jar is full, and they are able to buy their chair– the first nice piece of furniture for their home since their place had burned to the ground.
A great story showing the tenacity of careful planning, hoping, and love. Great for all ages.
