A Good Day

by Kevin Henkes

Published by Greenwillow Books, 2007

All of the animals are having a bad day, until a little luck turns things around for the animals.  The bad day turns into a good day!  There are many adages in our world that refer to this sort of happening: “When one door closes, another one opens” comes to mind.  It begs the question: what can you do to turn around your OWN bad day?

This book is a good example of several conflicts happening in one story.  Many of the types of conflicts are different as well, and more advanced students could talk about those (person vs. nature; person vs. person), particularly in 6th and 7th grades as they learn to identify this typology.
